just back after 7 days on amazing island of tonga! feeling completely “displaced” after such a short time only. stayed at vakaloa beach resort because time was too short to go to the outer islands, but john and his family made it it a true tongan experience and we could not have wished for more. there is something very special about these people, making you feel welcome from the first moment. the resort is directly on ha’atafu beach, walk through a beautifullly maintained garden to a white sandy beach. you can swim safely in crystal clear water at all times, protected by the reef, gets very shallow at low tide though. boys saw plenty of colourful fish. on our last day we went on a whale tour and got to see these most impressive giants and we were even in the water with them. i had never thought we would get so close to them, this feeling is hard to describe. on the way back captain sam took us to another reef on the way back for more snorkelling with more colourful fish. to wrap it all up there was the most magical floorshow at the resort on our last evening, just to make it even harder to leave! an incredible mix of traditional tongan and modern music, dance and performances, all created by john and his team! what an experience for all of us! click on the image below and come to the kingdom of tonga with us, the photos are from 2015 and 2017 taken at different places, you find Elias’ video about the 2017 trip on the videos page.
